Celebration of the European Mobility Week in Pula
Within the EDIC Pula - Pola project, the Foundation participated today in the the European Mobility Week celebration at the Portarata Square in Pula where the info point of the Europe Direct Information Centre (EDIC) Pula - Pula was set. All interested citizens had the opportunity to find useful information about the European Union, appropriate promotional materials, EU publications and leaflets, which were distributed to inform on various current topics and opportunities offered by the European Union.
In addition, the Dystrophic Society of Istria exposed vehicles for persons with reduced mobility, the Istrian police administration presented the police work and cycling patrols, preventative activities on the correct and safe movement of the participants in the traffic, especially the safe movement of pedestrians and cyclists. In collaboration with the Technical Committee from Pula and the Croatian Auto Club Pula -Rovinj (HAK), a presentation on safe bicycle traffic and the bicycle riding test for lower classes of elementary schools were demonstrated.
The European Mobility Week was launched in 2002, organized by the European Commission and several European organizations. To participate in the event, 49 states and almost 2400 cities have been reported so far. Besides Pula, other eight cities from Croatia have signed for the participation: Zagreb, Zadar, Sutivan, Koprivnica, Kutina, Jastrebarsko, Belišće and Mursko Središće.
