Completed Project: Fulbright Specialist Program – PhilantrophISTRIA: Building a Culture of Philanthropy

In the last two weeks of November, we had the pleasure of hosting Nory Angel, a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Specialist award. Nory G. Angel, President of the American Leadership Forum Houston/Gulf Coast (ALF), visited us with the goal of exchanging knowledge and establishing international partnerships with Zaklada Istra – Fondazione Istria.

Together with Nory, we worked on advancing two key areas: the Info Point for Associations and the development of philanthropy. Through internal training sessions and workshops, Nory collaborated with us on the new Strategic Plan for Zaklada Istra – Fondazione Istria, aiming to strengthen the Foundation’s role as a regional leader in philanthropy. In this context, the focus was also on further empowering our team to position the Foundation as an intermediary between the public sector, businesses, and civil society organizations. Additionally, Nory provided capacity-building training for the Foundation, with a special emphasis on fundraising activities.

Nory also played an important role in organizing and sponsoring this year’s conference, NGO: Challenges of the 21st Century, held as part of the Foundation’s Info Point initiative. The conference focused on connecting local stakeholders and promoting philanthropy through panel discussions and debates.

At Zaklada Istra, we continuously strive to stay aligned with current trends in the sector, and gaining a fresh American perspective has enriched and further inspired us! Thank you, Ms. Angel!

The Fulbright Specialist Program brings together over 400 experts from the U.S. each year, contributing their knowledge and experience to institutions worldwide. Award recipients are selected based on their academic and professional achievements, as well as their ability to foster long-term international collaboration.
