General info

Established by the Istrian Region in 2006 The Foundation for Partnership and Civil Society Development is the regional force for encouraging the development of international and cross-sectoral cooperation and networking in the field of non-profit organizations.
As a non-profit organization, the Foundation Istria emphasizes the importance of philanthropic and democratic values. Our team is made up of hopeless optimists with years of experience in providing informational, educational and financial support to non-profit organizations in order to develop and cultivate cooperation and dialogue between all participants in the community.
Over the last 18 years, we have developed high quality and successful ways to fund changes in the communities that align with our values, the values of human rights, active participation, tolerance, inclusivity, non-violence, transparency and respect for diversity.

In 2007 the role of our Foundation was recognized by the croatian National Foundation for Civil Society Development. We obliged to implement the Decentralized model of providing financial support for civic initiatives and development of social capital in local communities. At the end of 2007 Foundation has started a project named Cities and Municipalities Fund. The Fund was started with the aim of creating a network of local governments that acts as a Fond which will be used for financing CSO projects.

However, the real fruits of our efforts lay within the community. Our impact can be both seen (tangible changes in the community) and sensed by engaging with our beneficiaries, whom there are many. Click here to get a more in depth summary of our activities and projects.

We are actively enriching the community, not just by funding, but by strengthening the skills of non-governmental organizations and to activate community actors. We have established cooperation with various international organizations and held and attended numerous events, workshops and study visits abroad thus broadening the horizons of social possibilities for many.
By creating and supporting development of new innovative social services, or startups, socially responsible businesses (SME), we want to address the needs of today's society,  people in various areas of life; social, sports, cultural, environmental, tourism, health, etc.
To sum up, Foundation Istria is not just a Foundation, it is much more. It is an organization that, through its functioning, gathers members of all social spheres and creates opportunities to steer the local development in a positive direction. Foundation Istria surpasses the limits of a closed, displaced bureaucratic institution. No, Foundation Istria has woven its presence within the Istrian Region, constantly analyzing the needs of our fellow citizens as well as our social impact, adjusting our operations accordingly. For that reason, in the last couple of years Foundation Istria has put a great emphasis on the development of philanthropic values within the community. We encourage the development of corporate philanthropy and multi-sectoral approach.

We wholeheartedly believe in the goodness of human kind, giving back to others and leaving the world a better place and we aim to lead by example.
